Vincent Accettola
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Vincent Accettola is one of the founding members of NYO-China and, as Managing Director, helps articulate and preserve the overall vision for the project. Vincent is also the CEO of Athena Education Group, a Manhattan-based startup that develops education solutions for international students planning to study in the United States. In November 2014, Vincent was elected at age 20 to serve on the Board of Education for Freehold Regional High School District, New Jersey’s largest regional school district. Vincent holds a Bachelor of Science from Yale University, where he pursued a double major in Psychology & Neuroscience and Political Science, and a Master’s in Education Policy and Management from Harvard University.
Nicholas Brown
DIRECTOR OF PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
In his role as the Director of Project Development, Nicholas Brown is responsible for building relationships with artists and institutions throughout the musical community and architecting the major components of the program’s training residency and concert tour. As a violinist, Nicholas works with musicians, educators, and members of the NYO-USA team to develop a curriculum that will create a meaningful and lasting impact for NYO-China’s members. Nicholas graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. While at Yale, he was also a member of the Yale Symphony Orchestra.
Peggie Zhong
INSTRUCTIONAL COORDINATOR
Xun (Peggie) Zhong plays a vital role for NYO-China by facilitating communication between the Chinese speakers and English speakers involved in the program. In addition, she works with other team members to develop the NYO-China curriculum, to help prepare the teaching artists and staff, and to plan English language and other special courses for the students. In the past, Peggie was instrumental in coordinating an English-immersion summer program for Chinese students visiting the United States. She has a Master of Arts degree in “Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages” from the Teachers College at Columbia University.
Derek Maseloff
DIRECTOR OF ARTIST PROGRAMS
Derek Maseloff combines his experience as a touring musician with Chinese language training to help facilitate strong connections with NYO-China's artists. As a horn player, Derek performs regularly with Wavelength Winds, an ensemble dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a 21st century classical musician. Previously, Derek studied at Peking University where he conducted research on the US-China cultural relationship. Derek holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in China and Asian-Pacific Studies (CAPS) from Cornell University and a Master of Music in Horn Performance from the University of Maryland.
Sabrina Xu
PROJECT DIRECTOR
As the project director of NYO-China, Sabrina Xu oversees the structure and the overall quality of the project. Besides, she also serves as the president of US-China Youth Education Solutions Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting cultural and academic wellbeing of youths. Sabrina manages multiple research projects under the foundation, such as adolescently emotional management at Teachers College at Columbia University and multi-media family communication at Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has a Master of Arts degree in Climate and Society from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Columbia University.
Eric Rosenstock
DIRECTOR OF FUNDRAISING
Born and raised in Costa Rica, Eric Rosenstock immigrated to the United States with his family in the 1980s. Educated in the U.S., Eric is a native speaker of English and Spanish, and is fluent in Portuguese. He graduated from Yale Law School in 2005. Eric is a business immigration law specialist, representing corporations, families and individuals in a broad range of matters. He is also an experienced transactional and corporate lawyer, with experience advising in immigration law, aspects of mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions. Eric is honored to serve NYO-China on a voluntary basis.
